Most loved and best selling Bag is now available to create in fabric

Hey! I'm so happy to see you here :) In this class, we’ll be making the bestseller from my shop—the one and only Borla Bag—with a few adjustments to make it suitable for fabric, canvas, or eco-friendly vegan leather (like cactus, pineapple, etc.)

The bag comes in two sizes: the Baguette and XL 13" laptop.

The class includes detailed written PDF instructions with plenty of photos, plus video guidance to support you. Each lesson is clearly organized and functions as a complete unit, so even if you only have 15–20 minutes a day, no worries—you’ll pick up right where you left off. There’s no expiration date on your access, so you can watch, rewatch, pause, and enjoy crafting at your own pace.

  • Bag Dimensions & Materials Needed

    Baguette

    Height: 10.8" (top to bottom)

    Width: 16.25" (side to side)

Top opening: approx. 14–14.25” (35.5–36 cm)

Strap width: 1.5" (or adjust as desired)

    Materials for the Baquette Borla:

Outer fabric: 20" (51 cm) long for the fabric of 129.5–150 cm (51–59") wide

Lining: 30" long for the fabric of 52-59" wide

Interfacing for the outer material (optional for structure and shape): 32" long and 16.5" wide will be enough (81x41.5 cm). I used Plantional Iron-On Fusible Fleece Medium Weight

Light-weight Interfacing for the slide pockets inside: a piece of 14"x17" (35.5x43 cm). It's optional too, it just makes the pockets a bit more firm.

    XL 13” Laptop Size

    Height: 12" (top to bottom)

    Width: 16.25" (side to side)

Top opening: approx. 14–14.25” (35.5–36 cm)

    Strap width: 2"

    Materials for the Borla XL:

Outer fabric: 20" (51 cm) wide; width between 129.5–150 cm (51–59")

Lining: 30" long for the fabric of 52-59" wide (that includes the slide pockets inside)

Interfacing for the outer material (optional for structure and shape): 40" long and 16.5" wide will be enough (101x41.5 cm). I used Plantional Iron-On Fusible Fleece Medium Weight

Light-weight Interfacing for the slide pockets inside: a piece of 14"x17" (35.5x43 cm). It's optional too, it just makes the pockets a bit more firm.

    Materials for Either Size

    Polyester thread (T-70 or V-92)

    Top zipper: 16” (39 cm) – I used a metal #5

2 O-rings or rectangular frames for the strap attachments

✨ O-rings are great if you want a detachable strap; rectangular frames work well too. I used wide D-rings, but they tend to slide around and that can be a bit annoying.

1 slider buckle: I used a 2" (5 cm) one, but 1.5” (38 mm) works just as well. It’s your bag—feel free to adjust the width however you like! :)

2 lobster hooks (optional) – only needed if you want a detachable strap

  • Recommendations about fabric:

    Outer Fabric:

Softer fabrics will give you a slouchy, casual feel.

Firmer fabrics will result in a more structured shape.

If you’re using a soft outer fabric but want more structure, you can add firm fusible interfacing to reinforce it.

    Lining:

Same idea! A regular linen-weight cotton will work great for a slouchy bag. If you want the bag to hold its shape more, look for something like duck canvas cotton—a firm fabric that will give more body to the final result. • Tools Needed

▫️Fabric marker (or a little piece of soap works in a pinch 😄)

    ▫️Ruler (I use two—one is 3" wide with a center divider)

    ▫️Scissors

▫️Binder clips and a few pins

    ▫️Iron

    ▫️Home sewing machine (that’s enough!)

  • Time to make

To make the bag takes about 3.5-4 hours to make.

  • Can I sell the bag I make?

This pattern is made for personal use, and I can't wait to see your interpretation of this design. Additionally, feel free to create and sell small batches of items made from it if you're the single crafter behind the craft. You don’t need to buy a commercial license to sell this bag, the only thing is to use hashtag #borla_bag and tag @khelmanbags in the description.

▫️If you're interested in making large batches of the bag (more than 300 pieces a year), this option is available. Please contact [email protected] for the commercial agreement, which is $1 per bag sold.
